What is a Condensing Boiler?

The UK Government made a commitment to reduce the UK's energy consumption and emissions of harmful greenhouse gases.

As a result, legislation was passed that all new boilers must house a condensing unit to extract heat from expelled gases and use it towards fuelling the boiler.

These boilers became known as condensing boilers and are energy efficient and produce lower emissions.

So quite simply all modern boilers are condensing boilers. There are three types; Combination (Combi), System and Regular.

What are SEDBUK Ratings?
Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK is the method developed by the Government to fairly compare appliances under the Efficiency Best Practice Programme.

Band A condensing boilers will utilise over 90% of the gas consumed to heat a central heating system.

Many boilers across the UK have efficiency as low as 50% which means half the gas burnt is wasted. In money terms, that's 50p out of every £1 in your gas bill wasted and blown out the flue!

At Green Choice Heating we only install A-rated condensing boilers.
