Heat Pumps

Heat pumps are devices powered by electricity to generate domestic heat. Their performance is recorded in ratios and heat pumps are currently achieving ratios of up to 1:4.

This means one single unit of electricity is generating four units of heat. In simple terms, for every £1 worth of electrically heat pumps provide £4 worth of heat.

When heat pumps are compared to gas boilers their energy achievements look even more impressive. A-Rated gas boilers are 90% efficient while heat pumps are achieving up to 400%, and this is from a clean and renewable heat source.
